My twin flame journey was the most transformative period in my life. I met my twin almost six years ago, and we’ve been broken up for five. It’s crazy to think that just one year with him was the catalyst for everything good in my life.
The good didn’t come until one year ago, though, once I finally understood that the goal is not a real twin flame reunion. I had been dreaming of that reunion ever since we separated, thinking that would be the reward of all my inner work.
My whole world revolved around my twin flame for at least three full-time years. To be honest, it was exhausting. I didn’t think I would ever experience such a form of love again.
The illusion of reunion
When you are on a twin flame journey yourself, you probably long for that reunion as well. But what we don’t understand is that the reunion is the longing of the soul for an inner divine unity.
Not with your twin flame, but with yourself. It’s about finding the balance between your divine masculine and your divine feminine. Those things are not separate. The ‘DM’ that the twin flame community talks about is within you. There is no external Divine Masculine (or Feminine).
You are both.
Your twin flame is not a reward, but an activation code. One sent to awaken the dormant aspects of your soul.
The purpose of the twin flame journey
I don’t like the word ‘twin flame’ anymore, because everybody has a different idea about it, and nobody really knows what a true twin flame is.
I think that somebody who has the power to change the core of who you are is a twin flame. The rest of the terms don’t really matter. What matters is the transformative power they brought with them.
And that power only becomes clear once you have reached that point. Then it doesn’t matter anymore whether your twin flame was real or false, or karmic or whatever label you want to attach to it.
The meeting with a soul like that is meant to catalyze cellular and energetic remembrance (the “home” frequency). It’s not about romance, but about the reconfiguration of consciousness.
The separation phase
The separation process is a very important chapter of your twin flame journey. It’s the phase of soul calibration. And even though we want to pass this stage as quickly as possible to reunite with our twins, this distance is exactly where the greater initiation begins.
Your soul encountered their other half in your twin, because that is the part that is missing in yourself. It’s an incredible gift to have found that in another person, but the purpose is to remember that part in your own soul.
The separation stage opens portals to multidimensional healing of your soul, from childhood wounds to karmic patterns and ancestral imprints.
This stage is sacred to find the way back to yourself.
The Inner twin flame reunion
Many twin flames don’t realize that they will never reunite with their twin if they don’t find that wholeness within first. And their twin also has to find that.
The paradox is that when you find that wholeness, you don’t long for your twin anymore. If your twin also integrated their inner feminine and masculine, you will naturally gravitate towards each other again.
Because your frequency changed to a new level, and if they don’t float on that same level, they will not feel the pull towards you. And you won’t feel it either towards them.
That stage of inner wholeness is the real twin flame reunion. Because what comes next is beyond your wildest imagination.
The gift of twin flames
A twin flame meeting is incredibly powerful. I will never forget that period of my life and the love I felt oozing through my whole body. And that same love turned into the biggest pain I’ve ever felt during our separation.
Because I saw my lost parts reflected in him, and then I had to lose them again. That process was the hardest thing I’ve ever done. Imagine finding yourself in another person, and then having to start from zero when you lose that.
But starting from zero is exactly what the gift of twin flames is. Your twin came to remind you that you are part of something much bigger. All twins are part of the ascension network and come to awaken each other to the frequency of unity.
Remember why you came here
The twin flame experience is a bridge between dimensions and teaches humans how to love in 5D instead of 3D. Because 3D is only our human earthly form, but 5D is much bigger than that.
5D is the understanding that there is no separation, because we are all One. Your twin flame is also one within themselves, and you got to have a glimpse of that to help you remember. But it was never something you were supposed to own.
Because the real twin flame reunion is inside of yourself. It’s not separate, and it’s not with another person.
It doesn’t matter who your twin flame is
For the longest time, I was searching for answers about whether my twin was real or not. I had to know if I should wait for him or if there would be another twin flame out there.
But the truth is that it doesn’t matter. The twin flame label makes you believe that this is your one and only true love, but that is very restricting. It takes away from the real work you came here to do.
If you believe you have met your twin flame, you have. Don’t let others tell you whether it’s real or not. What matters is the impact they have on you.
And reunion with them is not the goal.
How to integrate this understanding
It’s not easy to embody this knowledge because a part of you is always hoping for reunion. Trust me, I’ve been there for five years as well. But now that I have found the missing piece in myself, the longing for reunion is gone.
So how can you integrate the separation stage?
- Accept the connection without attachment to any outcome. Acceptance and surrendering are important tools.
- Ground their love into your own daily actions. Their love is not gone; it’s still guiding you from afar. Help that love by becoming the best version of yourself.
- Use their mirror to heal your trauma and stop being codependent. How? I wrote a shadow work journal especially for that.
- Serve others from your awakened state. This is the ‘mission phase’ and what everyone is talking about after a twin flame reunion. You two (who are now both inside of you) have ascended enough to serve others and make the world a better place.

Your divine partner will come if it’s meant to be

You will always attract whoever vibes on your frequency, and if that is your current twin flame, you can expect them to come back.
But if that is another evolved soul, that is exactly what you need as well. You have to let go of the old version of your twin flame completely before finding them again.
And maybe you will find them in a completely different person.
The real twin flame reunion
The real gift is the expansion of love itself. A love that transcends identity, possession, and time. Love is the most powerful force in the Universe. If you have found that in yourself with both your masculine and feminine integrated, that’s when miracles happen.

Your twin flame only came to bring you back to that state of being. And I can now wholeheartedly say that I wouldn’t trade my twin flame experience for anything.
Even though it was the most painful period of my life, it brought me back to myself completely. And I will be forever grateful to my twin (or karmic partner, or soulmate, or whatever you want to call it) for that.
